Activities Assistant – Recreational Therapy Assistant

We are currently accepting applications for an Activities Assistant/Recreational Therapy Assistant to join our team. This role will assist our Activities Director with group activities, one to one visits, charting, transportation, and other activities as assigned for the residents in our facility.

The ideal candidate will have a kind approach with the aging and vulnerable adults, be a great listener, and have great communication skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality in and away from the center.

The schedule may vary from day to evening hours; weekend and holiday hours may be required. Candidate must be flexible.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement group programming that promotes interaction between residents. Required to assist in planning such activities.
  • Notifies residents and staff of activity schedules. Monitors residents and visitors at events to help maintain orderly conduct.
  • Visits with residents on a one-to-one basis as directed by the Activities Director in order to provide:
  • A friendly visitor.
  • Sensory stimulation.
  • Reality orientation.
  • Individual instruction on specific leisure pursuits.
  • A means of meeting individual needs as outlined in each resident’s Activity Plan.
  • Reports to Activities Director on resident’s responses and/or progress to specific approaches utilized. Complete documentation about resident needs, responses, and participation.
  • Arranges chairs, tables, and equipment in designated rooms or other areas for scheduled group activities, such as banquets, receptions, parties, group meetings, or special events.

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school graduate or possess a GED
  • We are looking for an outgoing and energetic person to join our team
  • Must be reliable, work well as a team member and enjoy our residents as they move through the seasons of their lives
  • This position requires that the employee is able to read, write, speak and understand the spoken English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patients and visitors at the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs.
