Job Overview

Jackson County DHHS is seeking to fill a Behavioral Health Aide position. Under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Manager, the Behavioral Health Aide provides a variety of functions by helping to support the Behavioral Health staff and programs, tracking data, designing outreach material, and completing other clerical tasks. The Aide serves as the initial contact between the general public and the Behavioral Health Unit. Requires the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out responsibilities.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides information relating to programs and services in the community that may be offered to individuals in need of assistance
  • Assists Behavioral Health staff and Behavioral Health Specialist to make necessary referrals to both internal programs and external agencies based on the client’s needs
  • Provides appropriate face-to-face and over-the-phone service to the general public, professionals, attorneys and other agencies by: greeting, providing information and assistance and answering appropriate inquiries
  • Collaborates with other departmental units to assist the client/family in meeting their needs when presenting at Behavioral Health services (Children and Families, 0-3, Public Health, WIC, WREA, Child Support, etc.)
  • Assists staff working in Behavioral Health Programs in meeting critical time lines
  • Assists Behavioral Health staff in delivery of services or functions.This may include transporting clients, clerical duties, scheduling appointments, client activities, etc.
  • Organizes and disseminates documents, reports, and correspondences
  • Completes required scanning for Behavioral Health Programs
  • Assists staff in assuring that Service Authorizations are complete and timely for Behavioral Health Programs
  • Coordinates credentialing for billing of Behavioral Health Services
  • Assists in gathering appropriate paperwork for billing as needed
  • Collects and collates data from customer service surveys or other reports as directed
  • Schedules client appointments for Outpatient Clinic and other programs as needed
  • Sends out appointment reminders for Outpatient Clinic and other programs as needed and follows up with clients related to rescheduling appointments when necessary
  • Create files for Behavioral Programs as directed
  • Records minutes as requested at Behavioral Health meetings and creates agendas as directed
  • Sends out agendas and recorded minutes to appropriate staff and agencies for various Behavioral Health meetings
  • Assists with organizing planning and carrying out educational and outreach Behavioral Health activities
  • Assists in tracking clients, caseloads and service programs and keeping database current as directed
  • Receives logs and posts data into PPS or other data systems as assigned
  • May assist Behavioral Health Specialist with assigned duties which may include but not limited to QA, referral and intake, PASSR submission, training logs etc.
  • Interacts with the public and co-workers in a courteous, proficient, and professional manner
  • Responds to requests for records within the confines of agency policy
  • Maintains skill and competency levels as policies and regulations change by attending and participating in staff meetings, supervision times and other regularly scheduled meetings; develops knowledge and skills by attending training events and workshops
  • Maintains security and confidentiality of records
  • Compiles, calculates, and tabulates statistical data and prepares reports as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications & Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates degree in Human Services, Sociology, Social Science, or other related field preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in the human services field required

  • Ability and willingness to work hours outside a standard work week

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Possess and maintain valid Wisconsin Driver’s license and have access to transportation suitable to complete necessary work out of the office

Family – $1,991.91/month $476.69/month

Life Insurance: County paid for employee equal to yearly salary. Additional coverage and coverage for spouse and dependents are available at additional cost.

Deferred Compensation Plans: Two plans are available.

Voluntary Accident/Cancer/Critical Illness Insurance: Employer will contribute $10 per month towards the plan.

State Retirement: Employer match 50%

Sick Leave: 1 day per month – accumulating

Vacation: General Employees: 10 days during years 1 & 2 to a maximum of 25 days after 21+ years
Managers: 15 days per year during 1st – 6th years of service; to a maximum of 25 days
Jail/Dispatch: 12 days during years 1-5 to a maximum of 25 days after 21+ years

Holidays: Non-Law Enforcement: 9 specific and 1 floating
Law Enforcement: 10 personal days in lieu of holidays
