Job Title: CAMPUS ADVOCATE
Reports to: Sexual Assault Services Coordinator
Positions Supervised: Interns or volunteers as assigned
Status: Full-time, Hourly, Non-exempt
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibilities of the Campus Advocate are 1) direct service with victims of domestic violence, dating violence and sexual assault including, walk-in and scheduled crisis intervention and advocacy as well as group facilitation and, 2) prevention and community awareness activities among youth and on the college campus.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Direct Service Provision
Share responsibility with other staff for crisis line, in-house advocacy, weekly staff-on-call, and weekend/holiday staff-on-call coverage.
Provide crisis intervention and advocacy at Nebraska Wesleyan University and additional Lincoln campuses.
Advocate for campus clients involved in the Title IX process.
Assist in facilitating support and educational groups as needed.
2. Campus Education and Training
Develop, coordinate, and participate in education and outreach services including dating and sexual violence prevention activities on campus.
3. Liaison to Campus
Participate in coordinated response teams on campus as assigned.
Be the point of contact and referral for campus personnel regarding client needs.
Develop and maintain relationships with campus personnel including in GAP, Student Services and any violence against women task forces or safety committees.
Develop community prevention and campus client resource contacts.
Provide training and ongoing education to Voices of Hope staff on campus resources and Title IX.
4. Prevention Activities
Develop prevention materials and coordinate and implement prevention programs for youth in high school and college.
5. Volunteers
Participate in volunteer training sessions as they relate to campus services, the Title IX process and prevention programs.
Assist with mentoring volunteers interested in campus services and prevention programs.
5. Statistics/Administrative Documentation
Collect data from campus activities and compile monthly reports.
Maintain records and documentation for clients.
Assist in agency data collection and compilation of monthly statistics with primary responsibility for statistical reporting of prevention and campus activities.
6. Agency Citizenship
Participate in staff and case review meetings.
Acknowledge and abide by the rules, policies and procedures of Voices of Hope.
Demonstrate an understanding of Voices of Hope’s mission, vision, and philosophy.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION: The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, criminal justice or a related field or equivalent experience. The candidate must also have experience working with relationship violence and sexual assault as well as knowledge and experience with campus services and the Title IX system. Bilingual candidates are preferred but not required.
