Position Summary
Governors State University is seeking to hire a Clinical Mental Health Counselor who will provide overall clinical and outreach/educational programming services to best meet the needs of the diverse student population. Specific responsibilities include intake, assessment, time-limited individual counseling, outreach, consultation and crisis intervention in the areas of mental health and wellness. The Clinical Mental Health Counselor serves as a member of the Counseling and Wellness Center. The Clinical Mental Health Counselor provides clinical consultation to the university faculty and staff, ensures compliance with accepted clinical standards and regulatory requirements, and serves as a point person for parents of students with mental health questions. This counselor will also supervise the peer mentor group consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to help develop and present outreaches to students.

Salary Range: up to $60,000.00.
(This is a non-unionized position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).

Minimum Qualifications
REQUIREDCOLLEGE/UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTSWHICH INCLUDES THE EARNED DEGREE AND CONFERRED DATE MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION OF THIS POSITION (See “Special instructions to applicants” section below).

1. Master’s degree from an accredited school or university in social or behavioral science or a related health specialty area including counseling and psychology.

2.
A. Current State of IL Licensure as a Licensed Social Worker or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

OR

B. Three (3) years (36 months) of progressively more responsible full-time experience in social work in a medical/clinical or social service agency setting.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a college or university with a residential and large commuter student population.
Three or more years of clinical and administrative experience in a university and/or college counseling center.
