SCC is one of two accredited community colleges that comprise the Community Colleges of Spokane. The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Clinical Placement Manager in the SCC Nursing Department.

GENERAL DEFINITION

The Clinical Placement Manager (CPM) works under general direction of the Associate Dean of Nursing and collaborates with faculty, students, agencies, and clinical placement consortia to assure appropriate clinical educational experiences for Spokane Community College (SCC) students.

The CPM coordinates the scheduling and use of clinical facilities in collaboration with faculty and agencies for nursing students. Ensures completion and submission of agency-required documentation for students and faculty assigned to clinical practicum or Capstone experiences within affiliated agencies. Develops, maintains, and updates systems for communicating and tracking student and faculty compliance with requirements. The CPM is responsible for complex communication and problem solving to maintain positive working relationships with a variety of contacts inside and outside the college.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a centralized information broker for all educational and clinical partners. *
  • Develop and manage relationships with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and other clinical agency sites for students to complete clinical rotations and collaborate with program coordinators for approval. *
  • Develop innovative partnerships with hospital educators, clinic managers, and leadership to provide educational services and cultivate relationships to source potential full and part-time faculty. *
  • Responsible for obtaining signatures and renewing and/or terminating contracts between Spokane Community College (SCC) and clinical sites, based on alignment with clinical objectives. *
  • Manage documentation systems and track faculty and student immunization records for completeness and compliance with state regulatory agencies (e.g., the WA State Nursing Commission), accrediting bodies, and clinical agency requirements. *
  • Determine compliance with required immunizations on a case-by-case basis for faculty and students. *
  • Develop, maintain, and update systems to communicate facility onboarding requirements and introduce tracking systems/subscriptions for new faculty and students (e.g., learning management sites, immunization tracking systems, etc.). *
  • Participate in the statewide project to help develop and maintain a centralized web-based regional clinical placement system with clinical placement grids. *
  • Attend CPNW meetings as the Associate Dean of nursing representative. *
  • Prepare communication materials, represent the college at meetings, conduct outreach, and give presentations with critical stakeholders as requested. *
  • Collaborate with the faculty, Associate Dean and Program Directors regarding student, faculty, and facility issues surrounding clinical onboarding and education. *
  • Develop and compile statistics for current activities and long-range planning efforts. *
  • Provide analytic, communications, and general staff support to the department. *
  • Provide support and clinical placement consultation to allied health programs. *
  • Participate in sustainability efforts to include grant writing as applicable. *
  • Maintain an agency partner contact list. *
  • Assure placements meet contractual obligations. *
  • Assist the Associate Dean and faculty in documenting accreditation and regulatory requirements that pertain to clinical placement, onboarding, and orientation. *
  • Maintain a permanent record of meetings and activities and assist with faculty meeting minutes. *
  • Organize new student and faculty training and orientations at clinical facilities. Troubleshoots clinical placement conflicts. *
  • Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions. *
  • Complies with district policy, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statute and collective bargaining agreements. *
  • Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned. *
  • Indicates this is an essential duty.

 

COMPETENCIES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Current WA State license in nursing or certification in an allied health discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science or equivalent from an accredited institution. Or an equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets all competency requirements for this position.
  • Three (3) years of current clinical experience in a healthcare or healthcare educational setting.
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including, Word, Outlook, and Excel. Experience with and willingness to use and adapt new technology.
  • Ability to represent the college in a positive manner.
  • Ability to make presentations to healthcare leaders and educators and be comfortable developing relationships via phone and in person.
  • Ability to work positively with students, staff, and members of the community.
  • Ability to work as a team member to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
  • A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals, objectives and strategic plan of CCS.
  • The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, and community and technical college system.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching, learning and working environment that honors diversity, equity and inclusion.

CONDITIONS/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

TOTAL COMPENSATION$92,568

Total compensation is an estimate based upon adding the following amounts together:

  • Base compensation of $69,656.58 plus
  • Current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates, plus
  • Median retirement fund contributions.

The actual total will vary depending upon each employee’s enrollment choices.

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. An offer of employment will not carry with it any responsibility or obligation on the part of the District to sponsor an H1-B visa. In addition, the Community Colleges of Spokane maintains a drug-free work environment and prohibits all smoking in the college buildings and state-owned vehicles. Must be able to successfully work in and promote a multicultural work and education environment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Contract 12-month position.
  • Position is exempt from Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Requires local or regional travel. If using personal vehicle proof of driver’s license and car insurance required.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator license required.
  • Criminal background check required.

This is a contracted, exempt management position. Medical, dental life and long term disability insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under the Public Employees Benefits Board; TIAA-Cref retirement plan. Vacation leave accrues at the rate of 14.67 hours per month (22 days per year) and sick leave accrues at the rate of one (1) day per month, effective upon employment. (For positions that are less than full time, leave accruals will be prorated to the percentage of the position.)
