Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Director, Clinical, the Counselor conducts individual and group sessions with residents and provides support to the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Counselor carries a client case load. The average may fluctuate dependent upon staffing and
  • Facilitate individual and group sessions as assigned
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Counselors role in client programming including the evaluation of Discovery journal
  • Coordinate treatment goals and services in collaboration with client’s treatment
  • Provide progress updates to parents in collaboration with family
  • Timely completion of documentation (may include assessments, treatment plans, progress and group notes, discharge summary) according to established
  • Attends weekly treatment team meetings, staff meetings, and clinical
  • Identify off campus meetings
  • Maintains clear boundaries with residents and staff. Holds direct care staff to the rules and guidelines of Newport Healthcare. Sets limits and assists to manage clients when staff is in need of support or
  • Attends meetings, trainings and conferences representing Newport Healthcare as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, counseling, psychology or related clinical field with two years experience with adolescents or young adults in a mental health or substance abuse setting required. Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or family therapy preferred.
