Counselor for Children

Job Overview

Exciting private practice opportunity for an experienced Licensed Counselor, Social Worker, Psychologist or Psychiatrist (contract) to join an established, growing practice. Work around your schedule to meet and evaluate client’s needs and create a custom treatment plan to meet short and long-term goals, monitor client progress and adjust treatment, as needed. Provide professional counseling, coordinate with other healthcare providers, agencies and community resources. Maintain confidentiality, follow federal, state and local legal guidelines, follow licensing criteria when applicable and maintain HIPAA compliance.

Great atmosphere, grass-roots individual marketing, private office space, liability insurance, EMR system, credentialing, medical billing and administrative support staff are all included with this position. Great opportunity to enter into private practice!! *This is a slow hire process; your hire date will not be your start date. We will credential you, which usually takes 3-4 months. Our goal at ACC is that you are only a therapist, you will not be responsible for anything outside of counseling duties. You will make your own schedule but will be required to offer a minimum of 25-30 hours a week to be labeled as “full-time”. Late nights and Saturday mornings are highly encouraged when first starting your practice to build clientele.

As a play therapist you’ll usually work with children aged three to 11, using play as a communication tool to understand their world and to help them deal with emotional distress and trauma. You’ll help children and their families work through difficult life issues and experiences, including: abuse and neglect.

Play Therapists receive extensive training in subjects such as child development and attachment (the bonding process). They are also trained to use play, a child’s natural form of expression, as a means for understanding and communicating with children about feelings, thoughts and behavior.

Must be a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Experience preferred.
