We are looking for a Masters prepared counselor to help with advising the nation’s future nurses.

Position Summary:

The Counselor helps with learner engagement activities, early intervention for at-risk learners, re-entry programs, assessment of learner needs, and delivery of resources tailored to promote academic success and learner engagement with the end goal of retention to completion and learner satisfaction. In addition to academic support, the Counselor will seek out and connect assigned learners with resources in local communities for transportation, childcare, emergency services, and other assistances to facilitate the education process and focus energy on learning.

 

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for retention and graduation rates of assigned learners, as well as one academic specialty, depending on needs and qualifications.
  • Create a culture of trust and connectedness across the campus community, promoting well-being and success for learners.
  • Collaborate with local communities and organizations, including government agencies, to align and coordinate various services for learners.
  • Help drive College improvements in learner retention and learner satisfaction outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain a pool of learner services assistance options geared to learner needs (e.g. referrals to childcare, counseling, etc.), promote and utilize College sponsored retention programs.
  • Ensure learner services are matched to specific learner needs.
  • Follow through with learner concerns on learner survey results, withdrawal data, and other sources of information to determine root causes for learner withdrawals prior to completion and drive improvements in learner satisfaction and retention.
  • Assist with daily follow-up on absent learners, in addition to managing daily activity levels necessary to reach learners.
  • Work with learners in accordance to the policies outlined in the College Catalog.
  • Engage learners with College through learner activities, webinars, and special events.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or presently pursuing Master’s Degree.
  • Two years experience as an academic advisor, social work, or school counselor.
  • Strong learner-centric focus; commitment to learner satisfaction and success.
  • Effectiveness in working in teams, focusing on learner success, customer service, and service excellence required.
  • Proven, excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with a diverse learner population.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a team, on multiple projects, within an environment that can be fast paced.
  • Mastery of MS Office suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

 

 

 

This position is required to attend new employee orientation in person in Salt Lake City, Utah for one week. All travel and lodging accommodations will be paid for by the organization.
