POSITION SUMMARY
The Crisis Lead Clinician supervises a team of highly trained professionals, including Mental Health Technicians, Care Managers and Master’s Level Therapists in Crisis and Intake. Must have great people skills and build rapport and positive relationships with supervisees, colleagues, supervisor, and others one interacts with. The Lead must possess exceptional assessment, diagnostic, and clinical skills for all populations across the life span, including birth-5, children and adolescents, adults, and older adult consumers presenting with mental health and/or substance abuse concerns. The incumbent will be required to work with other community agencies, including local and county law enforcement and detention, mobile crisis providers, schools and higher education entities, contracted health plans, and county hospitals. The Lead must demonstrate the personal characteristics of integrity, compassion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The Lead works collaboratively with Leadership and Executive Management Teams towards meeting The Guidance Center’s Mission. The Lead ensures that all staff provide services according to ADHS/ /AHCCCS/Health Plan/Joint Commission guidelines, as well as TGC Policies and Procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Manage the day-to-day operational requirements of the Department.
2. Facilitate staff meetings and supervise staff individually, in compliance with Employee Handbook requirements.
3. Participation in screening and hiring new employees for the Department.
4. Uses recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and person-first language in all interactions, with a strong understanding and ability to demonstrate excellence in customer service.
5. In collaboration with the Chief Clinical Officer, develops protocols/procedures to meet identified needs which can function within current budget allocations, as evidenced by departmental staffing for intake and crisis and standards for accessing services.
6. Work with the utilization management team to review consumers who are high utilizers of the crisis department.
7. Networks, communicates, and provides customer service for internal and community stakeholders, with emphasis on comprehensive End-Of-Shift Reports sent by all crisis staff.
8. Serves on program related activities and workgroups within the agency as assigned (Clinical Managers Meeting and Utilization Management Meetings), and outside of the agency.
9. Create and maintain the team work schedule (including PTO requests, training, and shift changes) for MHTs and Therapists. The schedule is to be posted at least 1-3 months in advance.
10. Participates in the performance improvement processes of the agency, plan of correction, completion and monitoring timely submission of incident report and/or supervisory review, and provision of ongoing training to clinical staff.
11. Provides intake and crisis services as a therapist on the regular department schedule.
12. Is on call for clinical consultation, including on-call during some weekends and holidays.
13. Coordinates and cooperates with the Leadership Team and other staff with accountability in meeting regulatory standards.
14. Works well under pressure, and in meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
15. At all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
16. Oversees department specific training for all new employees.
17. Ensure staff are in compliance with required agency and State trainings.
18. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Required:
Master’s Degree in behavioral health field or social service-related field.
Experience in Intake, Assessment, Crisis, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse Services.
Must be willing to work flexible hours and able to travel

Computer software skills
Resource management skills
Ability to obtain Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
At least 21 years of age or older.
Valid AZ driver’s license.

Preferred:
Eligible as an AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners Licensed, Master Level Clinician; must be able to obtain licensure within the first 6 months of employment
