SCOPE OF ROLE

Reporting to the Director, Employee Engagement and Training, the Educator, Behavioral Health provides staff development as an educator, consultant, facilitator and change agent across the organization. You will facilitate the organization’s behavioral health education programs through assessment of training needs, development of training content, implementation and evaluation of competency based learning. The Educator, Behavioral Health will consult and collaborate with key stakeholders ensuring Signature Health’s learning objectives are effectively evaluated and applied by staff to support patient care.

 


HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED ____________________________________________________________________

  • Conducts thorough and continuous training needs assessments of behavioral health staff using a variety of strategic tools to identify opportunities for educational development.
  • Responds promptly to organizational training needs that promote quality patient care and safety.
  • Identifies and plans for critical learning transitions of staff during the employment cycle (onboarding, implementation of new functional processes, etc.) to ensure appropriate execution of training activities.
  • Develops/coordinates behavioral health education plans in collaboration with functional stakeholders related to ongoing competency validation.
  • Consults with key leaders and staff regarding individual or team learning needs.
  • Adheres to the Education & Training departmental content review process to maintain alignment between training development requests and organizational objectives.
  • Plans, maintains and evaluates training materials for use in education programs with focus on accuracy and alignment of departmental content and branding guidelines.
  • Develops and utilizes training evaluation and effectiveness tools to support staff development through remediation, mentoring and support post learning.
  • Focuses on continuous quality improvement through gathering and maintaining course evaluation data and establishing channels for feedback.
  • Establishes a cadence of post-learning checkpoints to support evaluation of training and application of practices/learning content.
  • Provides evidenced-based educational opportunities that benefit both licensed and unlicensed behavioral health staff at all stages of their career development.
  • Facilitates competency-based training programs for licensed and unlicensed staff with a focus upon improvement of skills and retention of knowledge.
  • Incorporates principles of adult learning into the planning, implementation and evaluation of education programs.
  • Ensures that educational programs are congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders across Signature Health to recommend educational strategies for the implementation of clinical standards.
  • Serves as an educational consultant to task forces, quality improvement committees and projects relating to policy, procedure and program development.
  • Applies individual awareness and sensitivity to cultural diversity to create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
  • Travels to various Signature Health locations to facilitate training activities
  • Promotes self-development in training expertise and maintains functional knowledge base as a subject matter expert.
  • Maintains and updates clinical and professional knowledge and skills through formal and informal educational experiences to ensure best evidenced based practice.
  • Complies with state continuing education requirement, if applicable, as determined by individual licensure.
  • Comply with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all aspects of HIPAA, promoting patient confidentiality and right to privacy.
  • May be required to perform telehealth services as determined by Signature Health.
  • Adherence and completion of compliance training provided by Signature Health.
  • Responsible for and completes all productivity/documentation requirements.
  • Participate in all assigned staff meetings and staff development programs.
  • Demonstrate appropriate attendance and punctuality in adherence with Signature Health policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE ______________________________________________________________

  • Valid unencumbered LISW or LPCC License in the state of Ohio is required.
  • 7-10 years’ experience working in behavioral health as a Counselor, Clinician or related role is required.
  • 3+ years’ demonstrated experience developing behavioral health training content and/or facilitating robust training programs is required.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas required: Motivational Interviewing, Clinical Supervision, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Addiction Severity Index, ASAM, trauma-informed care, and/or treatment planning; together with a strong knowledge of electronic medical records.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

WORKING CONDITIONS ___________________________________________________________________

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment.
  • While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings and extended hours may be required.
  • Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
  • Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
  • Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
  • Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.
  • Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
  • Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
