Duties and Responsibilities:

The group counselor will coordinate all group services at StrengthUnited by ensuring all group curriculum is utilized in accordance with the theoretical approach; updating outdated curriculums, expanding group curriculums to address the specific needs of marginalized communities, maintaining accurate clinical notes, attendance reports, phone logs, and billing forms; engaging participants in the interview and assessment (IA) process; assigning and completing I As when needed, attending MDT meetings at the direction of the ClinicalSupervisor, inputting all data into identified tracking systems, collaborating with all internal and external service providers to ensure continuum of care, auditing group files, observing and providing feedback to group facilitators, and conducting mock sessions for counselor training. The group counselor will approach all clients in a respectful, culturally competent demeanor that promotes a strength-based approach in accordance with the ParentalProtective Factors and the Core Practice Model and continue professional development through annual training opportunities and will hold a caseload of 5-7 individual clients.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in a related field. Has experience working with adults, families and/or children who have experienced one or more of the following: physical abuse, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, and/or emotional abuse; neglect, including parental chemical substance abuse; domestic violence and/or witness to violence in the home, child abduction, exposure to crime/violence in the community, victim of other criminal activity and or bullying perCalifornia Education Code48900(r). Must be a highly organized individual able to multi-task, track and document clinical paperwork. Computer competency, including Word, Excel,Outlook and PowerPoint.

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities:

Must demonstrate the ability to use communication skills that successfully convey and obtain accurate and complete information in a respectful and caring manner. Have a basic knowledge of body language and non-verbal communication. Understand and demonstrate active listening skills. Must be a critical thinker, reasoning, organizing and analyzing information so that problems are accurately understood and solutions are congruent with client’s capacities and outcome orientated. Capacity to negotiate and collaboration to insure the client’s successful receipt of services. Demonstrate the skill of advocating for the needs and rights of people. Must show a passion and sensitivity for trauma work. Demonstrate experience to maintain cooperative working relationships with others; be team oriented; coordinate/collaborate with professionals from multiple agencies whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries and client confidentiality.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 per hour
