A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HEAD START BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROGRAM SUPPORT

As a Head Start Behavioral Health Program Support, you provide essential behavioral support services for our Head Start and Early Head Start programs. You support the behavioral health needs of children in the classroom and implement appropriate interventions as assigned. Following the Infant and Early Childhood Consultation model, you use provided resources to support staff, parents, and children. You work collaboratively to mitigate behavioral health problems and developmental delays in children ages birth – 5 years old.

Additionally, you cooperate with staff on referral and follow-up consultation support services. You work with parents on reinforcing conscious discipline supports in the home environment. To assist with public relations, you represent us in the community and help recruit clients. You keep up-to-date and accurate records of all services provided, assessments completed, observations, and ongoing recommendations. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A HEAD START BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROGRAM SUPPORT

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 1 year of experience working with children and families in an early childhood education setting
    • 1 year of experience helping children with behavior management, self-regulation, and emotional-regulation skills
    • Ability to navigate Microsoft Office and ChildPlus software
    • Ability to pass all required background checks
    • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance

A bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, human services, or early childhood education is preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish would be highly desirable. Do you have good communication skills, both written and verbal? Are you patient, respectful, tactful, and calm under pressure? Do you have excellent interpersonal skills? Can you show empathy while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries? Do you have strong organizational and time management skills? WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time social work position with our nonprofit typically works Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM and requires minimal travel.
