SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The LIFE Recovery Clinical Supervisor specializes in Biblical/recovery counseling and clinical counseling supervision for residents that are seeking recovery from substance/chemical dependence and/or other life-controlling problems. The Clinical Supervisor is the primary monitor and overseer of the therapeutic functions and services provided by the counselors within the UGM LIFE Recovery Program. Provides clinical support, supervision, and monitoring for the LIFE Recovery counselors and counseling interns. Also provides a vital liaison function between the primary recovery program staff and the Site Directors. The Clinical Supervisor is also responsible for training of counseling staff and maintaining professional relationships with collateral agencies ensuring all align with UGM and Program standards.

 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Result Area #1: Leadership & Management

  • Participates in the interview, hiring, and separation decisions involving Life Recovery Program Counselors.
  • Oversees all Life Recovery Program counselors at assigned sites.
  • Provides oversight, supervision and quality assurance of all mental health and recovery services including record keeping and direct services.
  • Ensures that clinical services follow UGM, Grace Process and Genesis Process standards.
  • Ensure that Biblical truth is fully integrated into the recovery process.
  • Ensures adherence to HIPAA and documentation requirements as identified by regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure that confidentiality is consistently maintained in accordance with established program guidelines.
  • Reviews treatment plans, case notes, and written correspondence to verify that such documents meet appropriate standards.
  • Facilitates team case conferences twice per week at assigned sites to ensure coordinated treatment plans and service utilization to ensure the comprehensive care of patients.
  • Assigns cases to Counselors.
  • Interacts and mediates between referral sources, other agencies, and outside therapist as needed.
  • Ensures that supervision documentation occurs and is submitted for filing.
  • Ensures that all significant incidences are reported via Incident Report within 24 hours.
  • In partnership with Site Directors, trains and provides performance management feedback to counselors (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions) utilizing the Outcome Based Management Process, e.g. SWOT’s, PDPs & SMART goals, One-on-one’s.
  • Each counseling position has a current job description with duties designed to contribute to the objectives of the LIFE Recovery Program.
  • Counselor vacation/sick leave hours are approved on the time clock system as needed, verifying time off and to ensure accurate payroll
  • Human resources and the Director of Ministries are informed of any changes to personnel, e.g. employment status, job duties, personal information.
  • Any actions taken against or by an employee are documented and sent to HR to put in the employee file, e.g. employee warning, incident report
  • Supervise counseling interns at assigned sites.
  • Inform the Director of Ministries of any concerns regarding staff, the program, or the residents; participate in resolution.
  • Ensure the LIFE Recovery Program staff effectively utilize the Client database.
  • Turn in receipts and invoices according to Accounts Payable policy.
  • Is responsible for teaching 1 LIFE Recovery Program class per phase at each assigned site.

 

 

Key Result Area #2: Volunteers

  • Understands how to apply for a volunteer/ counseling interns and is trained to equip their volunteers for purposeful service.
  • Volunteers/ interns have a current job description as necessary with duties designed to contribute to the objectives of the LIFE Recovery Program.
  • Adequate time and resources are allocated to fully train new volunteers/ interns.
  • All new volunteers receive a condensed safety orientation of the facility and procedures they will be working with.

 

 

Key Result Area #3: Development, PR, Fundraising

  • Employees know how to cast the vision of their department to volunteers.
  • Employees know how to transfer the cause to volunteers and donors on the impact they have making in the lives of our guests.

 

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Committed Christian, able and willing to model servant-leadership and interested in being part of a ministry for the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill. Grounded in the Christian faith as a mature, active member of the body of Christ. In accordance with Union Gospel Mission Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills – exercise compassion and discernment while modeling the teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • Able and willing to honor the leadership, chain of command, standards and ministry objectives of Union Gospel Mission.
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook); able to complete documents, reports and accurately record information. Willing to continue education as needed or required.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and instructional.
  • Must have a teachable spirit and the ability to multi-task, listen, and make sound decisions in alignment with UGM’s purpose.
  • Minimum 5 years of sobriety, if in recovery.
  • Insightful, trustworthy, honest, reliable, model appropriate boundaries, and strong work ethic.
  • Valid Washington driver’s license– required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification – required.
  • Yearly TB clearance – required.
  • Criminal background check clearance – required.

 

 

Working Conditions/ Physical Factors:

Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%

  • Work is primarily indoors and may require climbing three flights of stairs, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building – Continuously.
  • Requires working with a diverse population, many of whom struggle with homelessness, addiction and mental illness – continuously.
  • Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about all of the facilities on a regular and ongoing basis – frequently.
  • Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – continuously.

 

 

Equipment/Tools Used:

  • Computer (Microsoft Office 365 Suite), Database, Copier/printer, Phone, Fax, Breathalyzer, and Drug Testing Kit.

 

 

Education/ Experience:

  • Master’s degree in human services field, i.e., social work, psychology, counseling, addiction counseling or related field.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • CPC-AD, LCADC, LCPC/LCSW, LMHC or similar certification/license required
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with other health professionals and leaders from other disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and supervise staff.
  • Knowledge of various substance abuse treatment modalities; knowledge of issues collateral to substance abuse (Dual Diagnosis)
  • Strong knowledge of the Genesis Process (preferred)
