Family Centers Inc., Federal Qualified Health Center’s Mental Health Counseling Program adult Psychiatrist needed for an opportunity to provide psychiatric consulting and treatment services necessary for the promotion of optimal health.

About Counseling and Mental Health Services:

Family Centers’ Counseling and Mental Health Services help individuals, groups, couples and families resolve a wide range of personal, relationship and mental health issues. As part of the counseling program, our Wellness & Prevention services offer an array of workshops and support groups on health and mental health as well as parenting.

We also offer crisis debriefing through our trained Trauma Response Team. Our team of clinicians can also work with your group or organization to arrange a customized presentation.

All services are facilitated by trained mental health professionals and are provided in our licensed and accredited centers located in Greenwich, Stamford and Darien. Day and evening hours are available.

The Role:

Family Centers Inc. is looking for an experienced, energetic, and compassionate Medical Director/Psychiatrist to provide medication management services and provide oversite of psychiatric services for our Federally Qualified Health Centers’ outpatient Mental Health Counseling Program located across three clinical sites in Greenwich, Stamford, and Darien, CT (although currently fully virtual). Position is currently remove and when in-person, rotating between the Greenwich and Stamford sites. The ideal candidate will also be able to provide coverage for our child and adolescent Psychiatric APRN when needed. Psychiatric schedule and appointments are maintained by Office Support staff.

The Mental Health Counseling Program psychiatrist is available to provide consultation to Mental Health Counseling Program clients, families, and staff. As a consultant to staff, the psychiatrist will meet with the program’s mental health clinicians and the child and adolescent Psychiatric APRN as needed. These consultations may focus upon diagnostic clarification and/or treatment planning.

As a consultant to clients and families, the psychiatrist is available to provide diagnostic and treatment services to clients in collaboration with the Mental Health Clinician’s treatment plan. The psychiatrist can provide diagnostic clarification, medication evaluation, medication management and treatment planning consultation as well as any necessary consultation required with external providers for collaboration of treatment planning.

As Medial Director, the psychiatrist will have knowledge of and engage in implementing, training, and following regulatory standards as set by our licensing bodies, the CT Department of Health, the Department of Family and Children Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, and The Joint Commission. The Medical Director Engages in the Quality Assurance and Improvement process to help ensure that quality and appropriateness of care are monitored and that appropriate actions based on monitoring results are taken. The Medical Director aids in removing barriers to achieving quality in medical care and for reporting to internal and external committees and entities, as required. The Medical Director Establishes and/or maintains working and collaborative relationships in the health provider community, on behalf of and in accordance with formal understandings of FCHC.


Medical degree (MD) from an accredited university

Completed a psychiatry residency

Minimum three years’ experience in progressively responsible administrative or management-related positions within a primary health care environment, preferably in medically needy and underserved communities and in a community health center setting.

An unrestricted state medical license in Connecticut

State of Connecticut controlled substance and DEA numbers

Experience working with adults, children and adolescents

Medical malpractice insurance in addition to that offered by the agency
