Job Overview
The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for an experienced Mental Health Auditor with a keen eye for detail to analyze and synthesize information to improve health care delivery at our prison complexes. This position is responsible for conducting compliance audits and quality assurance reviews pertaining to Mental Health Services at the sixteen (16) different prison facilities (State and private) in conjunction with other mental health auditor positions.
- Reviews mental health and other records pertaining to Mental Health Services provided by the contracted vendors
- Examines Health Needs Request (HNR) forms and appointment schedules to ensure on-site services are timely
- Works collaboratively with facility and contract bed health services compliance monitors concerning mental health issues
- Monitors and reviews services for unusual patterns of utilization or denial
- Evaluates clinical appropriateness of mental health services including provider referrals and documentation, conducts utilization reviews, spot checks, and scheduled quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and ADCRR policies and procedures
- Provides feedback to site-level administration
- Collaborates with site-level administration to ensure that processes are following policies and procedures
- Conducts clinical reviews and necessary interviews to contribute to inmate grievance appeal responses, investigations, and lawsuits
- Completes reports, conducts research, composes correspondence, and attends meetings and trainings as required
- Completes special projects and assignments within time frames
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
- Principles and practices of mental health treatment in a correctional setting
- Quality assurance and utilization review, basic procedure analysis and policy development, and research and patient assessment methodologies
- Personal computers and various software such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite

- Five (5) years of experience providing mental health treatment services in a correctional setting
- Master’s Degree or higher in a mental health-related field
- Current license by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiner
- Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP)
Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
