Job Overview

The Certified billing specialist is responsible for all electronic medical claim submissions. An AR Specialist must comply with applicable laws regarding billing standards and be able to operate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of mental health and ABA billing procedures, such as coordination of benefits, modifiers, Medicare and Commercial insurance carriers, TRICARE, and understanding of EOBs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely fashion that are sound, accurate, and supported by the reasoning and inclusion of appropriate people.
  • Must be able to prioritize and accomplish objectives as scheduled.
  • At least one year of experience in mental health billing is required.
Responsibilities:
  • Submit claims for services with proper CPT codes. Follow up on all assigned insurance claims to ensure appropriate reimbursement.
  • Process assigned AR work lists in a timely manner.
  • Review patient accounts to determine appropriate follow-up action.
  • Recommend accounts to be written off on Adjustment Request.
  • Reports address and/or filing rule changes to the manager.
  • Check system for missing payments.
  • Properly notates patient accounts.
  • Take appropriate actions (adjustments, letters, phone insurance, etc.).
  • Scan correspondence and index to the proper account.
  • Answer telephone according to team requirements.
  • Generate and send out statements to patients.
  • Respond to insurance company claim inquiries.
  • Meets daily production goals as assigned by management.
Skills:
  • Knowledge of mental health Commercial Insurance, TRICARE, and Medicare Compliance.
  • Mental health EHR use, clearinghouse.
  • Claims Processing.
  • Mental health Billing (1 year of experience is required).
Education:
  • High School Degree Required, College Degree Preferred.
  • Years of experience: 1 year preferred.
  • AAPC certification preferred.
Training will be provided for the position, but the candidate will be required to have the skills and knowledge to work independently.
Working hours: 8 AM – 5 PM
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 – $23.00 per hour
