THE ORGANIZATION

Asian Pacific Community Counseling (APCC) promotes mental health and wellnessin Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities through culturally and linguistically relevant outreach, prevention, education, counseling and recovery support services and by providing training and consultation.

THE PROGRAM

Transcultural Wellness Center (TWC) is an outpatient mental health service program designed to provide a full range of culturally and linguistically coordinated medical, therapeutic and support services for all ages including children, transitional age youth, adults and older adults. The full service partnership program is funded by the Sacramento County Division of Behavioral Health Services.

The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing direct clinical services including individual and group psychotherapy, intakes, assessments, diagnosis, service and discharge planning for clients.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Competitive salary: $62,000 – $66,000 per year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• This position is a 100% time clinician position providing direct clinical services at the agency, clients’ home or in a community setting.
• Using a cultural formulation model, provide intake/assessment/diagnosis, service and discharge planning, and treatment for children, transition-age youth, adults, older adults, and families with mental health needs.
• Work with clients, collateral supports to develop culturally appropriate service and discharge plans. Coordinate care with health, social services, medical and other community resources and supports.
• Provide in-home visitation services as well as transportation as necessary to conduct intakes/assessments/diagnosis, service and discharge planning, treatment, rehabilitation, case management including enhanced care management. Assist individuals and families with understanding the nature of mental illness and treatment benefits.
• Meet minimum billable minutes of 6,700 minutes per month to meet county requirements.
• Enter and complete required documentation in an electronic health record system, AVATAR within the standard 3 days of providing client care to meet county requirements.
• Provide individual, family and group psychotherapy.
• Facilitate psycho-social rehabilitation and support groups.
• Maintain a caseload consisting of persistently or severely mentally ill clients.
• Participate in Internal Utilization Review and Electronic Utilization Review.
• Provide after-hours coverage (24/7) crisis intervention on a rotation basis.
• Participate in county meetings as a representative of the agency.
• Attend and participate in staff and service team meetings regularly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge and experience of fundamental therapeutic models, corresponding interventions and treatment planning.
• Knowledge of clinical assessment and diagnostic skills to perform intake and case conceptualization.
• Knowledge of working with individuals with post-traumatic stress and refugee populations.
• Knowledge and awareness of the principles and methods of psycho-social rehabilitation practices that support wellness and recovery among children, transition-age youth, adults, older adults and families.
• Knowledge of and experience using the principles and methods of culturally competent assessment, diagnosis and treatment for children, transition-age youth, adults, older adults and families.
• Ability to exercise appropriate judgment and decision-making for community-based services in diverse communities.
• Knowledge and experience working with individuals who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning.
• Knowledge and experience applying the methods and procedures for documentation and confidentiality.
• Ability to work in an environment that is client-oriented, strength-based and values diversity.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with professional and paraprofessional staff, community partners and the public.
• Competent in the cultures and traditions of one or more of the ethnic groups served by the program.
• Competently bilingual in one or more of the languages served by the program, highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s Degree in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy and license-eligible as a mental health professional in the State of California by the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
• National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• One year of supervised, direct service work experience providing mental health services.
• Valid California Driver’s license and automobile liability insurance.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Must be willing to work in the field/community and share weekend on-call responsibilities on a rotation basis.
• Bilingual/Bi-Cultural preferred.
