Job Overview

The Mental Health Counselor will establish a supportive relationship with the goal of empowering individuals and their support network to actively participate in mental health and substance abuse treatment. You will provide clinical interventions to reinforce, practice, and model therapeutic techniques under supervision of an appropriate Licensed Professional, the counselor will provide therapy and/or skills sessions with individuals.

· Complete and submit documentation in a timely manner according to state guidelines.

· Have knowledge about BIRP note documentation and clinical documentation. (Preferred)

· Respond in an appropriate and timely manner to family/guardian and patient’s concerns

· Provide problem identification, crisis interventions, individual, group, and/or family skills to assigned clients

· Update and maintain accurate consumer information and records.

· Ensure compliance with confidentiality guidelines

· Serves as part of the client’s treatment team.

· Provides timely documentation to support services rendered.

· Builds support network around client by working with authorized collateral sources (parents, teachers, other community agencies as appropriate).

· Supports medical records’ staff in securing mandatory paperwork in a timely manner.

· Attend scheduled Supervision and Observations as outlined by company policy.

· Establishes positive relationship with client, family and their support network.

· Models stability for client and family with regular/consistent sessions according to their Individual Treatment Plan

· Empower client to improve day to day functionality, reducing stressors and increasing ability to focus on treatment goals.

· Encourages client compliance with the treatment the therapist/counselor/physician is providing.

· Monitors/reports client behavior in all environments.

· Attends staff meetings

· Ensure compliance with all QCAG Policies and Procedures, DBHDD, CARF and Beacon requirements as well as Local, State and Federal regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33,000.00 – $37,500.00 per year
