Our clinics provide speech and language services, occupational therapy, physical therapy, mental health counseling, and behavioral and developmental support through our developmental disabilities agency.

Children’s Therapy Place, Inc. is currently recruiting for Mental Health Counselors. Due to our growth and high demand, we have openings for outpatient counselors and school-based counselors to support the Treasure Valley.
These positions require proven experience as a qualified individual capable of counseling children and their families in an outpatient setting. The counselor will be able to provide services to assist clients to cope with their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.
Essential to this position is the ability to be innovative and act as a team player to further CTP’s mission and vision. Including: putting the children and families we serve first, taking ownership of your work, and providing compassionate service with integrity.

What you’ll do:
  • Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients’ treatment.
  • Assess clients for risk of suicidality, homicidality and/or grave risk of self-harm.
  • Encourage clients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives, helping them to develop insight into themselves or their relationships.
  • Collect information about clients through clinical interviews, observations and/or assessments.
  • Counsel clients or parents (guardians), individually or in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, or making changes.
  • Guide clients in the developments of skills or strategies for dealing with their problems.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
  • Fill out and maintain client-related paperwork, including federal- and state-mandated forms, client diagnostic records, and progress notes.
  • Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.
  • Evaluate clients’ physical or mental condition, based on review of client information.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments or develop treatment plans.
  • Refer clients or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
  • Act as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
  • Modify treatment activities or approaches as needed to comply with changes in clients’ status.
  • Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with or supporting clients.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs on clients’ progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.
  • Discuss with individual clients their plans for life after leaving therapy.
  • Meet with families, principals, school counselors/social workers, teachers, probation officers or other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
  • Plan, organize or lead structured programs of individual, family or group counseling for clients.

What you’ll bring:
  • Master’s degree with a LMSW or LPC
  • Licensed to work in the state of Idaho
  • Eager and able to learn about new developments in counseling through continuing education opportunities such as; reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, or establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.
  • Can gather information about community mental health needs or resources that could be used in conjunction with pediatric therapy.
  • Abide by American Counseling Association and/or National Association for Social Workers accepted standards for mental health counseling, as well as, Optum/Idaho Medicaid accepted standards.
  • Maintain positive relationships and rapport with coworkers, clients, family members and other facility personnel.
  • Report to work on time and coordinate schedule to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during assigned work hours.
  • Project a positive and professional image at all times.
