Job Overview

Fee-or-Service/Contract Pay: $40,000 – $105,000 per year
Influence Incentives: Up to $12,000 per year
Student Loan Forgiveness Incentives: Up to $12,000 per year
Minimum Working Hours. 5 hours per day, 5 days per week.
Compensation. $1,538-$4,038 Biweekly

Qualifications. Must have (at minimum) an Associate or Provisional License in one of the following areas: Social Work, Mental Health, Marital Counseling, Professional Counseling, or Psychology.

Fee-for-Service. The School Therapist is reimbursed for each Student Visit performed in a therapeutic setting. Your desire to work with fewer or more students directly impacts your compensation and “Influence Bonus”.

About the Position. The School Therapist will coordinate behavioral health support services in collaboration with school staff and administrators targeting students in grades K-12. Each school will provide a consistent assignment of students requiring mental healthcare to the program. On average, each school identifies 85-100 students. As such, the school will provide the school therapist with a classroom to coordinate care. As the school therapist, you will determine the number of students you are able to serve at the group and individual service levels utilizing the program curriculum provided.

Primary Therapeutic Services.

  • Mental Health Group Counseling
  • Individual Mental Health Counseling
  • Facilitation of Informed Consent, Mental Health Assessments, and Treatment Plans
  • Facilitation of program enrollment and intake of school-identified students
  • Conduct student performance and status meetings with school staff and administration
  • Participate in school-led behavioral conferences

Minimum Daily Caseload Requirements. The School Therapist shall facilitate a minimum of two group therapy sessions and one hour of individual therapy per day.

Additional Position Incentives.

  • Training. SBHSN offers a comprehensive self-paced training model which ensures all School Therapists are thoroughly prepared to be successful in the School Therapist role.
  • Supervision. School Therapists who require state-mandated supervision can request a monthly stipend of up to $175 to be applied to the cost of supervision if the School Therapist’s monthly goals are achieved.
  • Student Loan Forgiveness. $1,000 Student Loan Forgiveness Disbursement if monthly “influence” goals are achieved, or
  • Monthly Influence Bonus. An additional $1,000 disbursement if monthly “influence” goals are achieved.
  • Healthcare Benefits. Healthcare Benefits are available at a reduced cost.
