Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Crisis Services, The Mental Health Triage Coordinator provides support to the clinical department of Progress Foundation by working to connect clients in need of treatment to the most appropriate residential treatment program. This position is the face of Progress Foundation programs to external referral sources such as inpatient psychiatric hospitals, locked psychiatric settings, jails, and outpatient case management agencies.

The MH Triage Coordinator is an advocate for clients seeking treatment in San Francisco and utilizes motivation based counseling practices to identify short and long term goals to improve their treatment outcomes. Understanding of how institutional and systematic racism, trauma, and addiction impact mental health is imperative for this position.

A focus of this position is to identify internal and external systemic and clinical trends impacting referrals, provide virtual and in-person direct client evaluations, and assist in data collection and review in order to provide recommendations for change and system improvement.

The ideal candidate has the ability to assess and diagnosis individuals. As well as being able to initiate, review, develop and document clinical assessments and treatment plans of individual referrals. Applicants with the ability to become a Qualified Clinical Supervisor will be prioritized.

The MH Triage Coordinator will also represent Progress Foundation at external education opportunities in order to build relationships with community partners and provide information regarding Progress Foundation services, referral procedures to create collaboration between providers.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Valid and current California license as a Psychologist, LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, waivered Psychologist, ASW, AMFT, APCC, or license eligible [able to register with the BBS 1 month from date of hire]

· Experience in a community mental health program. Experience in residential treatment services, alternatives to institutional care, and/or social rehabilitation program is preferred.

· Demonstrated experience with, and sensitivity to, the needs and circumstances of persons with severe and persistent mental illness. This should include direct service experience with a culturally and ethnically diverse client population.

· Ability to manage tough conversations with diplomacy and compassion with collaboration as the main goal.

· Excellent communication and writing skills, along with the ability to work independently and to exercise sound clinical and administrative judgment.

· Ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment.

· Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving and strong decision-making capability.

· Must be able to negotiate several flights of stairs and lift and carry 20 lbs packages multiple times during each work shift.

· Maintain criminal record clearance with Community Care Licensing.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
