Position description
Therapists are responsible for the application of current knowledge, theory, evidence and sound clinical judgment in patient management. The therapist works closely with the patient, family and other members of an interdisciplinary team to provide efficient and effective individualized patient care. Therapists also serve as advocates and promoters of health, wellness, and fitness to all stakeholders. They serve as educators and mentors for therapy students, peers and other medical professionals.
The occupational therapist assists with department and program planning. Mental Health Occupational Therapists are responsible for the application of current knowledge, theory, evidence, and sound clinical judgment in patient management. The therapist works closely with the patient, family, and other members of an interdisciplinary team to provide efficient and effective individualized patient care. Therapists also serve as advocates and promoters of health and wellness to all stakeholders. They serve as educators and mentors for therapy students, peers, and other medical professionals.
The primary duty of this therapist will be working in both inpatient and outpatient settings with one of the largest psychiatric treatment groups in the United States. Support for the general acute clients in St. Marys Hospital will occur during weekend rotations.

Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Minnesota as an Occupational Therapist.

Additional qualifications
Demonstrated skills in the areas of organization, communication, interpersonal relations, leadership, decision making and problem solving.
Prefer board certification in clinical specialty area and/or advanced degree in health care field.
Also prefer active participation within professional organization.

License or certification
Current occupational therapy licensure in the state of Minnesota.
NBCOT certification as an OTR is required for employment at Mayo Clinic (both upon hiring and ongoing certification every 3 years).

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,593.60 based on a full-time position.

This position will support occupational therapy coverage for both the inpatient and outpatient mental health practices and weekend coverage in the general acute care practice (physical disabilities) at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. Occasionally coverages may be needed in the acute care hospital setting Mon-Friday as well.

In the hospital, occupational therapists work in integrated teams with psychiatrists, internists, psychologists, social workers, physical therapists, and other specialists to provide comprehensive coordinated short-term care tailored to the needs of each patient. Hospital units include: Psychiatric Acute Care Unit, Medical and Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, Mood Disorder Unit and the Child, Adolescent and Family Treatment Unit. Outpatient programming includes work in the Pediatric Transitions Program, the Adult and Pediatrics Pain Rehabilitation Center, and individual work with clients who have a mental health or chronic pain diagnosis.
