POSITION
Peer Recovery Specialist – Contract

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide non-clinical, person centered wellness focused support to engage individuals in treatment and to promote use of the individual’s wellness recovery plan; share first hand lived experiences with recovery to inspire hope, increase engagement in treatment and in their communities and support individuals in articulating personal goals for wellness, recovery resiliency and self–advocacy; will function within the consumer’s treatment team and will receive individual supervision; will have knowledge of the signs and symptoms of Mental Illness and Substance Disorders and the ability to assist the individual to address symptoms using their individual wellness plan; provide Peer Support; serve as a consumer advocate; carry out wellness rehabilitation for mental health and substance use disorders and support functions; promote recovery from substance use and/or mental health conditions; promote employment, education, health, and community integration; and serve as a role model for personal recovery; provide outreach, monitoring, advocacy, daily living support, and similar functions; services may be rendered in the group setting or on an individual basis; may participate in special events, conferences, workshops, and training within the mental health system and community; works closely with staff, hospital, law enforcement agencies and other community agencies and organizations; documents all contacts, activities in the individuals’ records; other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements
M1: High School graduate or GED
M2: Must be, or previously have been a recipient of mental health or substance use disorder services for a mental illness or substance use disorder and should be well along in the recovery process
M3: Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Preferred Requirements
P1: Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist. If not obtained prior to hire, must be obtained within 24 months of hire
P2: Experience facilitating recovery support groups and/or WRAP groups for an individual with mental illness
P3: Some college
P4: Certified WRAP Facilitator preferred. If not, must be obtained within 24 months of hire
Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry (CANIS) report will be required upon request. Our Agency maintains a drug-free workplace.
HOURLY RATE RANGE
$11.66 – $14.78
