We are seeking a contingent Peer Support Specialist for our Lucas County Jail based services. Position provides individualized coaching to help clients find recovery through achieving their goals, supporting clients in making good choices, working with clients to overcome mental health crisis, teaching clients about managing their physical and mental health and promoting engagement with their ongoing mental health services.
The Peer Support Specialist must self-identify as an individual with a serious mental illness who is currently or was a recipient of mental health services, is in the process of his/her own recovery and has successfully completed training in wellness and recovery interventions. Must meet requirements and become a certified peer supporter within six months of hire. Certified Peer Supporter preferred. High School diploma/GED required. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, LPN, or QBHS status preferred. Prior experience preferred.
