WellStar Health System Inc

Job Overview

Overview

OUTPATIENT PSYCHIATRIST (VIRTUAL)
Monday through Friday
A member of the Mayo Clinic Network, WellStar Health System is an 11-hospital system, recognized as the 5th most integrated health system in the United States, and one of the largest health systems in Georgia.
WellStar is committed to investing in the communities we serve. We continue to develop innovative care models, focused on improving quality and access to healthcare. To this end, the WellStar Medical Group is excited to announce an opportunity for an outpatient psychiatrist to support needs across the Wellstar footprint.
In 2020, Wellstar accelerated our behavioral health expansion through virtual means, with increasing leverage of telepsychiatry services. In 2021 and beyond, we are continuing to expand access to patients in under-served areas. Through our primary outpatient psychiatry clinic, we are pleased to announce an opening for an outpatient psychiatrist who will provide a hybrid of in-person and telepsychiatry services.

Responsibilities

Overview of Duties/Responsibilities
This is a full-time 40 hour per week position, with time allocated to the provision of outpatient psychiatric services. The work schedule entails a Monday through Friday schedule, with services offered in-person (e.g., initial appointments and as-needed or preferred for follow-up) as well as via the use of Wellstar’s telepsychiatry platform.
Although the majority of patients receiving care will originate from Wellstar’s northwestern region, on-site services will be provided through Wellstar’s Windy Hill Psychiatry clinic in Marietta, Georgia – one mile north of the I-285/I-75 junction. The psychiatrist functions as a member of the WellStar Medical Group’s Behavioral Health team – a team comprised of ~50 licensed behavioral health providers. On a daily basis, the psychiatrist will work closely with members of the Windy Hill Psychiatry team. Although this is an outpatient position, the clinician will obtain and maintain hospital privileges at WellStar Windy Hill Hospital and on rare occasions may provide support for the long-term acute care facility, located on the Windy Hill campus.
The ideal candidate is one who is team-oriented, possessing a commitment to collaboration, active listening skills, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and having strong decision-making acumen. (S)He should be highly attuned to safety risks and adept in the management of suicidality when concerns are identified. (S)He should be technologically savvy, able to manage the challenges and connectivity issues that sometimes arise through virtual care. (S)He should display patience with individuals who are unfamiliar with technology and maintain emotional flexibility to manage the nuances associated with delivering virtual healthcare. (S)He should be comfortable working with adults with various psychiatric conditions.
