Job Overview

The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) at the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitation Services assists individuals with disabilities to make informed choices that will maximize their employment through coordinated service delivery. In collaboration with the Workforce Network, we deliver quality workforce services to individuals with disabilities who want to work and employers seeking to hire them.
The incumbent in this position will provide comprehensive employment focused services in conjunction with vocational rehabilitation services team which result in employment and increased enhanced independent living for persons with disabilities while complying with federal, state, and agency policy and procedures. Duties will include: Working with local workforce development boards, one-stop centers, referral sources and employers to develop work opportunities for (adults and students) with varying disabilities. Core case management services may include career guidance and counseling, employer engagement/cultivation, Pre-Employment Services, job seeking skills preparation comprising of applications, resumes, interviewing, job negotiation, self-advocacy skills and job placement services. Caseload may consist of Students, youth, and adults with varying disabilities including, but not limited to serious mental illness, substance abuse, hearing impairment and all other disabilities.
The incumbent in this position will work out of our Culpeper DRS office, which provides services in the counties of Fauquier, Rappahannock, Culpeper, Orange and Madison.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience providing and/or coordinating job placement services. Experience developing employer relationships and networking. Demonstrated knowledge of various software programs such as spreadsheet, word processing, desktop publishing, and database management as applicable to marketing program. Experience in in developing prospects and implementing marketing strategies.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Communications, Human Services, Marketing Vocational Rehabilitation or closely related field. Bachelor’s level transcripts must accompany the application. Please note that the transcripts must display the date that the degree was awarded.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities and understanding of best practices related to the employment of people with disabilities. Demonstrated ability to write for professional and public audiences and conduct training. Knowledge of human services, adult education, social services and other stakeholders and community partners preferred.
Special Requirements
This has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2-1201.1. A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the finalist candidate.

The selected candidate must complete a Statement of Personal Economic Interests as a condition of employment (Va. Code § 2.2-3114).
