PROGRAM DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Program Director
Reports To: Administrator/COO & CEO
Position Summary
The Program Director is responsible for direct service to clients, coordinates the smooth day-to-day operation of the program, and supports the Administrator in administrative duties as directed. The Program
Director collaborates as a member of the multidisciplinary team (Treatment Team) to deliver effective treatment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Facility Monitoring and Staff Support
- Collaborative oversight of program and ensure facility is running smoothly
- Manage Client Care Technician staff, including weekly meetings. Provide support as needed to Client Care Technician staff
- Hiring, training, supervision and development of mental health workers
- Oversight of environment of care, treatment schedule, client groups and logistics related to any outside appointments
- Review round records daily and report any concerns to the Treatment Team
- Monitor client requests or feedback and all related recording or communication
- Ensure HIPPA compliance in every aspect of facility operations and client care
- Respond immediately to crises, collaborating with the Clinical Director and Treatment
Team
- Oversee the Good Neighbor Policy: no smoking in the front, no idling cars, no loitering, censor any vulgarities and maintain a house level volume when outdoors
- Ensure facility is clean, safe and in compliance with Community Care Licensing regulations
- Maintain the integrity of the grounds and any facility property
- Provide support to group facilitators and primary therapists, including answering questions related to onboarding, paperwork, treatment notes, and company culture
Direct Service
- Make appropriate referrals for clients to other services
- Assists in the coordination, communication, and implementation of client discharge plan
- Manage milieu including: provide effective crisis intervention, address client behavioral issues, approve permission slips, attend Town Hall meeting every week to address client concerns
- Utilize individualized approach to client services
- Make arrangements for clients to attend available community programs, when clients have the need, identified by the treatment plan, which cannot be met by the program
- Provide on-call services for one week a month
Training and Monitoring
- Train staff in charting requirements
- Complete weekly occupancy report
- Update Master Schedule as needed
- Complete at least 20 hours of continuing education per year in areas relating to mental health and the care of the mentally ill, and/or administration

Qualifications
As per the Department of Health Care Services, the Program Director of a Transitional Residential
Treatment Program in a Social Rehabilitation Facility shall have the following qualifications prior to employment:
a. Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or any other related field (which includes at least 24 semester units in one or more of the following subjects: psychology, social work,
sociology, behavioral science and psychiatric nursing).
b. One (1) year full-time work experience in a community program that serves clients who have a mental illness.
c. Direct supervision of services to clients, with four (4) months in a position of supervising direct care staff.
- Attainment of at least 18 years of age.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, or social work preferred
- Experience: Two years of work at either a mental health program or clinical program with at least one year in a position supervising direct care staff preferred
- As an alternative to a Bachelors Degree a total of 3 years experience in providing direct services in the community to persons with mental illness, of which 6 months must be in a position of supervising direct care staff and graduation from high school or GED may be substituted.
- Knowledge: Understands tenants of psychosocial rehabilitation, counseling theory and ability to interpret regulatory requirements.
- Special Skills: Demonstrated ability to work as a team player. Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and personal automobile insurance. Hiring is contingent upon receiving DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance, a submission of a signed Criminal Record Statement (LIC 508), a TB test, and clearance on an employment physical. Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred prior to employment.

Pay: $70,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
