Purpose of Position

Why does the job exist?

The Psychiatrist primary responsibility is the care of all patients admitted to NMBHI. The psychiatrist meets with all patients on assigned units and works with an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide the highest quality of care.

How does it get done?

Diagnose, treat, and provide the patient care throughout treatment.

Patients/ Residents/ Clients

Ideal Candidate

Ideal candidate will have:
Experience in inpatient psychiatry.
Experience evaluating and diagnosing patients.
Experience prescribing medications to patients with serious mental illness and monitoring the effectiveness of side effects of these medications.
Experience working on an interdisciplinary team of professionals.

Minimum Qualification

Current license as a Physician issued by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners. Must hold current license/registration/certification at time of application.

Employment Requirements

Completion of the hiring process is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment screening process. This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing.

Working Conditions

Position will perform work primarily in an office setting with extensive computer and phone usage and exposure to Visual /Video Display Terminal. Lifting up to thirty (30) pounds may be required. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. Throughout the La Posada. Work hours are 8 am to 5 pm.
