The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University Park, has one Psychologist position available beginning August 6, 2021. This is a Level 3 or 4 position.

Primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Individual and group psychotherapy
  • Initial consultations and triage, outreach and consultation
  • Clinical supervision to trainees
  • Crisis intervention


This is a generalist position. However, additional expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • Supervision and Training
  • Fluency in Mandarin, Hindi, Korean, Malay or Arabic


Preference is given to candidates who have experience providing services to diverse populations, such as, but not limited to, underrepresented students, international students, and sexual &/ gender diverse students.


A Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology is required, plus 1 year of related experience. A one-year, full-time doctoral internship in Professional Psychology or Health Service Psychology is required. APA accredited training/internship and counseling center experience preferred. Licensed eligible as a Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required. Current licensure as a Psychologist is preferred. A level 4 position requires 5+ years related experience and current licensure as a Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for at least 3 years.


State College, PA, a university town, with a population of 105,000 (which includes the State College borough and surrounding townships) was recently cited as one of the top university towns in the United States. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are 3 to 4 hours from State College and Baltimore is about 3 hours. State College and the university provide the major intellectual, cultural, and recreational resources for central Pennsylvania.

This is a regular staff position with a 75% to 100% full time job equivalency (FTE) available, which will be determined with the successful applicant. For any FTE less than 100%, the typical schedule includes 40 hours per week during the academic year with summers off. Full Penn State benefits are included.
