A prominent social service agency in Manhattan, NY is seeking a Psychotherapist or Mental Health Counselor to facilitate group counseling sessions of individuals fighting against substance abuse as part of a methadone program. This a great opportunity for any therapist looking to gain valuable experience with an astounding organization that will provide strong leadership and mentorship.   • Provide assistance to patients in achieving self-sufficiency and positive treatment outcomes.
  • Must be able to maintain the normal standard of ethics, conduct and organization policies in job-related activities.
  • Ability to provide long-term approaches when treating chronic mental health disorders or disabilities.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with substance abuse, mental health, compromised health, HIV/Hepatitis C issues, criminal justice, child welfare, and HRA protocols/reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with OASAS and other regulatory agency regulations and written documentation requirements, DSM and ICD codes.
  • Help patients identify goals and solutions to problems causing emotional problems and the use of psychotherapy to address mental disorders and substance abuse.
  • Assess patient’s needs and develop a treatment plan with the patient that assists in working towards achieving the patient’s goals.


  • Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Worker
  • NYS Licensed Master Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor
  • 1+ years of experience in individual and group counseling experience
