Qualified Evaluator – Child/Adolescent Psychologist

Magellan Health

Job Overview

Florida Statue 39.407 mandates that every child/adolescent in the care and custody of the Department of Children and Families will have an evaluation/suitability assessment prior to admission into a residential treatment facility, and a subsequent review of progress, every 90 days thereafter. The purpose of the independent evaluation is to determine the suitability for the level of care and appropriateness of treatment thereafter.

  • Our contracted independently licensed psychologists will conduct these Suitability Assessments. You will be required to complete a clinical record review on the child, a face to face interview with the child and a written summary of findings that indicate a level of care that you recommend for the child. You will also be required to complete the clinical recommendation checklist for each child/adolescent case. As a contracted Qualified Evaluator with Magellan Health you may be required to testify in Dependency Court regarding your recommendations.
  • Each contracted Qualified Evaluator must already have an active and in good standing independent psychologist license for the State of Florida. You must have at least 3 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of serious emotional disturbances in children and adolescents. You should not have an actual or perceived conflict of interest with any inpatient facility or residential treatment center or program within the State of Florida. You must be able to travel and conduct assessments on site within the inpatient programs, specialized therapeutic group homes, crisis units, or any other location as needed
