Job Summary
The School-Based Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) provides both prevention-focused and outpatient-level mental health services to children and families in K-12 settings. Services provided include brief-individual therapy, family therapy, groups, case management and, if interested, providing presentations and trainings on mental health topics to the school community. This position will also provide occasional support to the Children’s Outpatient team in providing CATS (Crisis and Transition Services) to higher risk youth and their families which consists of participating in care coordination meetings and providing brief-therapy to support and stabilize the current crisis, often conducted in a clinic-based setting.

Our Children and Family program is a new addition to the Mental Health services offered at Benton County and our team continues to grow to meet the needs of our community. The School-Based QMHP will be a collaborative part of our interdisciplinary team of qualified providers while also functioning as a partner to the schools. Our current team is energetic, creative, and motivated and works closely with our community partners to support the youth and families of Benton County.

Considerations for joining our Team

  • This is an 8:00 am to 5:00 pm position but each QMHP is in charge of their own daily schedule.
  • Each employee is allotted a $1000 training budget each year for continuing education.
  • LPC licensure supervision is provided.
  • Our School-Based QMHPs enjoy the flexibility of their days/weeks and the creativity that the school-based format allows.
  • This position provides a nice variety of services ranging from low-level, preventative mental health work in the schools to helping with our CATS (Crisis and Transition Services) youth in the clinic who are of higher acuity and engage in a team approach of intensive services. This variety and range help combat provider burnout!

Minimum Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Social Work or Psychology; AND
  • 1 year of clinical work experience in Counseling, Social Work or Psychology.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Please note candidates must have at least 6 months of actual work experience to be considered as equivalent.

Special Requirements

  • Hiring is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license. This position requires driving and may require use of a personal vehicle.
  • Benton County requires all Health Services and Clinic employees to complete their COVID-19 vaccination series or have an approved exception to the requirement due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief. Successful candidates for this position must submit vaccination documentation or be approved for an exception prior to their first day of employment. Failure to provide proof of full documentation or receipt of an approved exception will lead to withdrawal of the job offer.

Ideal Candidate

  • PsyD, LCSW, LPC, LMFT or equivalent licensure

    • The County funds up to $1400 (available for the high deductible plan only) for the HSA or HRA account.
  • Choose between two dental group plans – MODA or Willamette Dental Plan.
  • The Vision plan is embedded in the medical plans.
  • Employer paid Life and AD&D insurance coverage, plus optional supplemental available for employee/spouse.
  • Employer paid Long Term Disability coverage.
