The School Mental Health Counselor at the Stony Brook school is responsible for overseeing the overall well-being of students while considering-academics, medical treatment, residential life, family, culture, social/peers, assessments, history, behaviors, presenting concerns, etc. This information is applied by executing interventions, administering treatment plans, collaboration with student supports, crisis management, conducting groups, and providing individual sessions. In addition, this position requires a high level of confidentiality in accordance with ethical practice, and adheres to school policy with regard to who and when to disclose information for student and school safety.
