Full Job Description

Counsels and aids individuals and families requiring assistance dealing with substance abuse problems
Monitors condition of clients to evaluate success of therapy and adapts treatment and rehabilitation programs

Examples of Duties

Facilitates group sessions to discuss issues, problems or concerns; and conducts substance abuse education programs
Counsels, advises and refers clients to available social services, community resources, medical or psychiatric treatment, and housing and employment assistance programs
Evaluates client’s situation to determine specific needs and services, to establish goals and objectives for treatment and rehabilitation plans, and to assess the effectiveness and achievement of recommended treatment plans
Interviews clients to obtain information to compile an economic, legal, family, lifestyle, substance abuse use/abuse and medical history record
Explains program eligibility requirements, guidelines and clinic fees to clients and their families
Participates in staff development programs and quality assurance activities
Documents client treatment progress, prepares reports and correspondence, and maintains records and files
Performs related work

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree
Human Services
Related field

Must be certified as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the State of Kentucky (KRS 309.083) within 1 year of hire date
Must wear personal protective equipment as mandated by OSHA
Must provide one’s own source of transportation
Must work a varied schedule

Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
