HIRING RANGE: $63,915.00 – $71,905.00/ yr. (108 Grade)*

  • Maybe eligible for additional shift differential depending on hours worked.

LOCATION: NSC, West Saint Paul and various community locals, including police departments

Crisis Response social workers are responsible for providing mobile response to mental health and other crisis situations; diagnostic/functional/needs assessments; safety planning; facilitating handoffs to crisis stabilization or case management; making referrals to community resources and services; skills development; short-term, intensive intervention to children, adults and/or family systems experiencing an ongoing mental health crisis; and coordination with other system partners, including emergency responders, hospitals, schools and other crisis resources.

Hours:
The team is hiring for multiple positions including the following:
Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday 11AM-9:30PM
Monday 1:30PM-12AM; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 11:AM-9:30PM
Monday/Wednesday 3:30PM-2AM and Thursday/Friday 11AM-9:30PM
Tuesday-Friday 1:30PM-12AM

A shift differential of $.90 per hour will be paid for nights (after 6 PM) and weekends

These positions are highly mobile and flexible. Shifts will be based out of various locations within the northern and southern parts of Dakota County.

Minimum Qualifications

NEED TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor degree in behavioral sciences or related fields and completed a practicum or internship that required direct interaction with adults or children and was focused on behavioral sciences or related fields.
AND
At least two years of professional experience providing mental health services, with at least one year of professional experience providing mental health crisis assessment or intervention services
AND
Meet requirements for a mental health practitioner under Minn. Stat. 245.462 Subd. 17
AND
Valid Driver’s License

NICE TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields
Minnesota State Licensure as a Mental Health Professional or Practitioner
Familiarity with county and statewide systems
Experience in crisis or emergency settings
Ability to function in fast paced and potentially challenging situations

 

Duties & Responsibilities

These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification. Regular attendance according to the position’s management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

1. Provide mobile response to individuals and families experiencing mental health crises throughout Dakota County per the requirements of Minn. Stat. 256B.0624 and Minn. Stat. 256B.0944.
2. Provide crisis assessment and intervention and treatment planning according to Minn. Stat. 256B.0624 and Minn. Stat. 256B.0624.
3. Collaborate with system partners and service providers to facilitate effective coordination and collateral communication with hospitals, crisis stabilization services, community resources, or other long-term services and supports.
4. Collaborate with and/or co-respond to crisis situations with Law Enforcement, Fire and Ambulance.
5. Demonstrate a commitment to support cultural diversity and actively supports the County’s diversity initiatives, and work to address the needs of diverse and underrepresented communities.
6. Complete agency, state, and federal required documentation as related to client activity according to mandated timelines.
7. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet client and community needs.
8. Engage in clinical consultation with team members.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities and Work Environment
  • Experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention techniques, and treatment engagement strategies
  • Experience working with children and families
  • Experience engaging in clinical decision-making under emergency conditions
  • Knowledge of child and human development, family dynamics and systems, including crisis management and cultural competency
  • Knowledge of community resources and funding sources
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and respect for the diversity of customers, co-workers, and supervisors, including individuals with a disability or whose first language may be other than English
  • Knowledge of medical diagnoses, medications, and basic medical terminology, as well as medical insurance processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of statutes, rules, and policies pertaining to social work and the ability to research the same
  • Interviewing, negotiation, mediation, and listening skills
  • Ability to engage and connect with people from diverse backgrounds and build relationships across communities and disciplines
  • Knowledge of cultural differences in beliefs and practices relating to mental health, treatment, and family structures and dynamics
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a County or community partner office building and on client home visits or other community locations. Travel is required. Lifting requirement of up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Exposure to inadequate lighting may occur on client home visits. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, printer, telephone, cell phone, audio/visual equipment, and copy and fax machines.
