Job Overview

Responsible for providing assistance and guidance to individuals and their families experiencing medical and/or psychosocial crisis precipitated by their illness or subsequent developments. Provides a variety of services that may include but are not limited to: disposition services, information and referral services, protective services, individual, therapy for patients in both an inpatient and/or outpatient setting, and their families. Providers of the OB/GYN office will identify patients in need of extended resources and refer them to this dedicated case worker, who will be housed in close proximity to the Mercy Clinic OB/GYN clinic.

The initial consultation between the patient and the therapist will be immediate, and the intention of the relationship will be for the therapist to identify needs and connect the patient with resources within Mercy and the greater Fort Smith community. Accessibility, proper treatment, safety, compassion and education will be the main areas of focus.

Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or psychology
  • Licensure: LCSW (Licensed clinical social worker)
  • Experience: Previous psychiatric experience
  • Certification/Registration: Must have a current BLS or obtain one within 90 days of hire
