The Facility for Rare Isotope Beams is searching for an energetic, self-driven Academic Specialist who is passionate about connecting and collaborating with individuals to create a diverse and inclusive environment within our laboratory and to external stakeholders. As an Academic Specialist for STEM Outreach you will…
- Build and maintain linkages between external STEM stakeholders and FRIB faculty, students, and staff
- Serve as point of contact for external stakeholders regarding FRIB STEM activities
- Develop and maintain key STEM statistics as requested by FRIB senior management
- Prepare and disseminate reports regarding visitor outreach & engagement as requested by FRIB senior management
- Maintain and improve programmatic metrics and data related to both FRIB and external STEM activities, and propose initiatives for improvement for approval by FRIB senior management
- Connect and collaborate with individuals, groups, or organizations within and outside the FRIB to foster understanding and help ensure the development and implementation of STEM initiatives, programs, policies and knowledge
- Identify and train volunteers and other staff to assist with programmatic needs.

Required Degree
Masters -Social Work, Counseling, Education or related field

- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively regarding STEM issues through written communications and f2f and online presentations
- Possess expertise regarding individual differences in ability, personality, and interests and their relationship to learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders
- Experience building and sustaining collaborative partnerships with diverse groups
- Demonstrable experience successfully working with underserved populations in STEM
