Job Overview

Position Description: Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Therapist performs a variety of clinical and administrative work involving the delivery of mental health services to children and adolescents in need of treatment and support. This position will work with a team of clinicians in the planning, implementation, and performance of therapeutically oriented activities and programs for consumers receiving mental health and substance abuse treatment services. This position requires considerable knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment methods, as well as an understanding of the principles and techniques used in the treatment of mental health disorders. Tele-health is being conducted as well and clinicians seeing clients in the community at their preference in the home, school, and community.

Bi-Lingual Therapist a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Receives referrals of clients in need of mental health services and monitors client’s behavior in relation to treatment plan goals and clients needs.

  • Maintains a caseload of individuals with personal social behavior problems including severe mental illness.
  • Conducts assessments of client needs, actively participates in the development of the consumer’s Individual Recovery/Resiliency Plan (IRP), and makes appropriate documentation in the record.
  • Participates in various staff meetings and in-services, and communicates with team members on observed behaviors and progress of consumers.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide individual and family counseling and applies crisis management skills as needed.
  • Works with client/family to establish realistic, achievable goals consistent with achieving and maintaining recovery/improvement
  • Provides counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to consumers and families as appropriate to the position; prepares reauthorization plans, treatment plans, discharge plans, and provides crisis intervention and emergency services as required.
  • Plans and facilitates community outreach and education activities, and may serve as an ATC representative at community organizations
  • Makes constructive therapeutic responses when the client’s behavior is inconsistent with stated recovery/treatment goals.
  • Recognizes how, when and why to use the client’s significant others to enhance and/or support treatment plan.
  • Writes progress notes that relate to treatment goals and objectives; submits progress notes for processing in a timely fashion.
  • Performs initial client assessments to determine appropriateness for services and to identify initial treatment needs/priorities.
  • Completes weekly/monthly progress reports during team meetings on status of clients.
  • Working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with local schools, key community agencies and professionals
  • Providing psychotherapeutic parent and child interventions
  • Conduct group sessions weekly.
  • Follow-up with referral source as well as community linkages.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the DSM-IV, of appropriate usage of treatment modalities (individual, family) based upon client needs.
  • Complete monthly reports on status of clients and forward to referral source of Department of Juvenile Justice/Department of Family & Children Services etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualificatiions: * Must be licensed in counseling, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, MA, MSW, APC,MFT.

  • Two (2) years experience providing clinical counseling to families and children.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment methods.
  • Ability to provide skilled treatment to clients with social and behavioral problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with consumers, families, service providers and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures, Medicaid services, and community mental health resources.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment methods, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting.
  • Must be willing to travel and see clients in the home, school and community.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $28.00 – $38.00 per hour
