Job Overview

Specific Qualifications:

  1. Comprehensive understanding of treatment issues for children and adult clients impacted by DV and/or SA.
  2. Knowledge of social justice issues preferred.

 

Education & Minimum of:

  1. Licensed, or license-eligible, as a clinician in the State of Hawai‘i.
  2. Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, marriage & family therapy or related field.
  3. Two years post-graduate experience in a clinical setting and one year of direct clinical service related to DV/SA preferred.

Program Overview: YWCA Kaua‘i strives to improve the emotional, mental, and behavioral wellness of our community and provides trauma-informed, client-centered, and culturally-sensitive therapy services in a safe and confidential environment. Therapy helps survivors, perpetrators and loved ones to address the traumatic impact that violence has had on their families, as well as to secure long-term therapeutic interventions. Our therapists are Master’s level marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors or social work associates and trainees working under the supervision of licensed therapists. Our therapists specialize in issues relating to family and/or sexual violence, namely intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and sexual abuse.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individual, conjoint, family and group treatment services for victims and families impacted by DV and/or SA.
  2. Perform evaluation and assessment activities, including incorporating understanding of DSM-V diagnoses and treatment planning.
  3. Complete all required documentation, including progress notes, clinical charting and data collection.
  4. Ensure contract compliance, quality assurance and adherence to delivery of quality services.
  5. Provide crisis intervention consultation, as needed.
  6. Participate in clinical staffing, treatment meetings, trainings and agency meetings/staff development.
  7. Work with other agencies to develop partnership and maintain positive working relationships. Engage in collateral contact and participate in meetings, committees, etc.
  8. Perform other functions as needed or assigned.

Additional Requirements:

  1. Valid driver’s license, vehicle and proof of insurance.
  2. Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  3. Willing and able to travel around the island for meetings.
  4. Willing and able to travel off-island for training and meetings.
