About Us
Overview
NorthShore Health Centers is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality, affordable healthcare to the uninsured and underinsured in Porter, Lake and LaPorte Counties. NorthShore currently has 9 locations providing medical care. Patients are seen on both a scheduled and walk-in basis. Evening hours are available at all of our locations including Saturday hours at our Portage, Lake Station and Hammond clinics. NorthShore has four dental offices, one located in Portage, one in Lake Station, one in Merrillville and one in Hammond which provide preventative as well as corrective dental care to the communities we serve. Our facilities employ general practitioners, obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, nurse practitioners, prenatal care coordinators, and community outreach workers. Behavioral Health Consultants work with our Primary Care Providers to ensure that emotional and behavioral issues are addressed as well as the physical. We address your entire health and wellbeing. Other Services: Digital x-ray, ultrasound, bone density scan, mammography, and laboratory services are also present on-site, and a fully functional pharmacy is available at the Lake Station Center and Scottsdale Center under the direction of pharmacists employed by NorthShore. NorthShore offers a sliding-scale based on income for those with no medical insurance who qualify. Based on yearly household income, patients can pay from a minimum of $25 (0% on the sliding scale) up to $65 (100% on the sliding scale) for an office visit. This sliding-scale does not cover lab and other outside fees, however, as those prices are set by third-party providers. NorthShore is always striving to improve our quality of care.
