Job Overview

A Case Manager/Child Safety Specialist offers valuable support and assistance to children and families in need. This role will require good time management and critical thinking skills. A Child Safety Specialist assesses child safety and risk while working with families, agencies and the courts for case planning. This is a fast paced environment which requires organization, a high degree of expertise and skill in maintaining established quality and accuracy in work assignments.

Currently there are two different types of Child Safety Specialists: Investigative and Ongoing

Knowledge of:

  • State and federal child welfare legislation
  • The potential effects of cultural differences on family dynamics
  • The roles and responsibilities of child welfare professionals including: courts, law enforcement, hospitals, schools, mental and physical healthcare providers, and community agencies or resources.
  • Physical and behavioral indicators of abuse, neglect, and mental health disturbances
  • Crisis intervention protocol
  • Conflict resolution techniques
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Policies and procedures of Guardian software

Skills in:

  • Verbal and written communication
  • problem solving
  • Establishing and maintaining work relationships with children, their families and court representatives
  • Public speaking
  • Preparing accurate and detailed documentation of reported information

Ability to:

  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Maintain professional boundaries
  • Work with a team
  • Prepare detailed documentation of client and professional contracts to ensure that records accurately convey reported information and minimize misrepresentation
  • Recognize indicators of abuse or neglect
  • Work various shifts when needed
  • Perform after hours duties

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.66 per hour
