ED Mental Health Tech, LNA – part time

1. Assists the RN in providing direct patient care.
a. Accurate and timely documentation of vital signs, care plans and behavioral plan
b. Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients, maintaining professional boundaries
c. Participates in patient rounds or teams
d. Completes patient care assignments
e. Intervenes in managing complex patient situations and patient schedules, utilizing department policies and procedures, always promoting the least restrictive alternatives
f. Communicates changes in patient status to RN
g. Follows Standards of Care and protocols for assigned patients
2. Works effectively in the therapeutic milieu.
. Participates in planning and implementation of patient groups
a. Provides and supervises recreation and other off-hall activities according to needs
b. Provides patients with direction, support, and supervision as needed
c. Follows established Nursing policies, procedures and protocols
d. Active milieu assessment while assigned to checks, particularly attuned to safety concerns
3. Assists patients in their activities of daily living.
. Identifies patient hygiene needs; initiates and implements interventions to meet these needs
a. Provides for patients’ nutritional needs according to unit procedure
b. Assists and reassures patients during tests, exams and procedures
Experience Minimum Required
- LNA with 1 year experience
Experience Preferred/Desired
- Experience in mental health care.
Education Minimum Required
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Special Skills Preferred/Desired
- Psychiatric experience
Licensure and/or Certifications Required
- LNA license
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
