Pay Grade/Pay Range: 58 Monthly (exempt): – Minimum – $ 41017.56 Midpoint – $ 59468.40

Normal Work Schedule: Varies; some evenings & weekends required

 

Job Summary: The Mental Health Professional II (MHP II) provides clinical services to clients and fulfills specific clinical and supervisory functions. Some of the primary responsibilities include providing clinical services, completing client assessments and case management. The MHP II may exercise clinical oversight and supervision, serve as a liaison among stakeholders and provide significant discipline-specific and agency-wide leadership on clinical matters.

 

Additional Department Summary: The Senior Therapist provides clinical services to youth and their families, ( i.e. individual and group therapy, youth assessments, mental health consultation, family support, case management and advocacy). The Senior Therapist may exercise clinical oversight, serve as a liaison among youth, staff and other stakeholders, and provide significant discipline-specific leadership on clinical matters. The Senior Therapist will begin building rapport with youth and families upon entry into the program, provide and oversee of social history information will guide the development of Individualized Service Plans (ISP) for program youth. This employee will obtain and compile social history information from relevant sources to guide in the development of Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) for program youth. The Senior Therapist is responsible for the development of 10- day service plans for youth entering the program. Additionally, this person is responsible for documenting weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports, file reviews, and termination summaries in youth files, Agency reporting system and Medicaid. The Senior Therapist will attend relevant meetings and prepare report for youth assigned to his or her caseload. This employee will rotate bein “on-call” during nights and weekends in order to provide guidance to program staff regarding the safety and wellbeing of students.

The Senior Therapist will be directly involved with a reentry and transitional treatment program for juvenile offenders. This position will facilitate engagement with aftercare services for youth transitioning from residential care as they reenter the community. The Senior Therapist will coordinate with the youth, probation officers, school officials (if applicable), parents/caregivers, court officials, and other community partners to determine the transitional needs of the youth in order to provide a smooth transition to the community.

The Senior Therapist will act as an advocate for youth in the program as well as a broker for services. Youth will be assessed to determine what community resources are needed to facilitate effective treatment and to reduce their likelihood of reoffending, thereby increasing community safety. The Senior Therapist will act as a role model and mentor to the youth on their caseload.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in a mental health related field. Two years of mental health experience. Licensure in the state of Alabama at the level of an independent practitioner.

 

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Licensure in the state of Alabama at the level of an independent practitioner and three (3) years of mental health experience with youth and families. Must be able to work outside of normal hours, which will include nights and/or weekends and be available for travel within the state of Alabama.

 

Skills and Knowledge: Proficient in the operation of a personal computer. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with diverse populations. Demonstrated ability to use of sound judgment and ability to remain calm during a crisis.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years of experience providing mental health interventions for youth. Certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and/or other evidence-based interventions for youth.
