Providence is calling for a Mental Health Specialist (Per diem FTE, Variable Shift) to our Inpat Behavioral Health at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, WA.

Provides therapy treatments under the guidance of licensed therapists.

In this position you will:

  • Provides milieu management of patients using a Trauma Informed Care approach under the guidance and supervision of the RN, or other mental health professionals / social workers on the unit.
  • During the admissions process, may participate in the gathering of information from families as outlined by departmental admission procedures. Gives input and recommendations to the initial care plan including practical and therapeutic approaches that may benefit the patient.
  • Provides feedback and information either directly to the RN and other mental health professional team / social worker members regarding observed behaviors of patients, and charts the information directly into Epic. This includes all activities whether they are within or outside the norm of expectations on the unit.
  • Work directly with the RN’s and other mental health professionals to give valuable input and recommendations to the care and treatment plans of the patients throughout their hospitalization.
  • Acts in a collaborative team environment to maintain the effective and proper functioning of the unit by monitoring patient condition and activity. Utilizes various de-escalation techniques as needed.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • 2 years In an acute or residential inpatient psychiatric facility in a similar role. Applicable internship or practicum experience may be applied towards required years of experience.
  • Maintains composure under pressure
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) – (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) – (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) – (BLS Provider) upon hire
  • Agency Affiliated Counselor with Washington State Department of Health required within 90 days on hire.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Social Science fields (Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or other related field).
  • Adult inpatient psych unit: Experience in an adult psychiatric environment.
