Job Overview

Position Summary:

JEC Miller, Inc. is looking to hire SUMMER TIME Mental Health Workers to work as Stabilization Skills Staff in our IDD Stabilization Program in Dakota County. The Mental Health Workers work in a direct care role providing in the moment supports to the child and their family to help them achieve their goals and maintain safety. The children we support have intellectual or developmental disabilities and are experiencing an increase in mental health or behavioral symptoms that require a staff that is comfortable responding to and redirecting physical aggression (which may include hitting, biting, scratching, etc), verbal aggression, and property destruction. TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED!

Preferred Skills:

  • The ideal Mental Health Worker will be comfortable helping children manage interfering behavior (physical and verbal aggression) and regulate their emotions.
  • Mental Health Workers are responsible for helping the children with their tasks of daily living. The children we work with vary in abilities and staff are required to assist in tasks of daily living such as bathing and toileting as needed.
  • The children we work with also require a staff person that is engaged and willing to participate in activities of the child’s choice and be committed to helping them achieve their goals while enjoying their lives.
  • Mental Health Workers are required to work with individuals both at the site and in their family home depending on where the child and family are at during the program.

Mon-Fri 7a-1p
**This position would go from June through September.

Preferred Qualifications:

– Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.

– 21 years of age or older

– Ability to pass DHS background study

– Education and/or experience with children with IDD and interfering behavior such as hitting, kicking, and biting.

Preferred Education:

– Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or related field

– Must be willing to work at homes throughout Dakota County, MN

Pay: $20.00 per hour
