CAPE, Inc. has a wonderful opportunity for a Mental Health Consultation Program Supervisor position in our dynamic and growing Early Childhood Mental Health program. We are a small, dedicated team of engaged and collaborative clinicians. CAPE (Community Association for Preschool Education) is located in Livermore and sees clients in the office, home, and schools in Livermore, Dublin, Pleasanton, San Leandro, and Hayward areas.

  • Position is part-time (24-32 hours per week)

The Mental Health Consultation (MHC) Program Supervisor is responsible for programmatic oversight of MHC program including administrative tasks, staffing, planning, support in needs of assessment and service delivery at CAPE and EHS partnership sites. Additionally, MHC Program Supervisor will assist in the training and supervision of Associate Mental Health Clinicians and administration of the Mental Health programs (therapy program and consultation program.) MHC Program Supervisor is also responsible for providing direct EPSDT mental health services to the families of children birth to seven years old and Mental Health Consultation to CAPE preschool and Child Care Partnership sites. This position reports directly to the Mental Health Program Director.

Essential Functions:

Supervisory/Administrative

  • Provide oversight to day-to-day operation of Mental Health Consultation Program
  • Provide support/training/guidance regarding clinical intervention/treatment and crisis management to Associate Mental Health Clinicians as needed.
  • Facilitate Mental Health program group supervision/meetings as needed.
  • Provide clinical supervision as needed.
  • Assist in various administrative tasks for the program.
  • Attend leadership meetings and collaborate with CAPE staff to support agency implementation of teaching practices and learning environment strategies that promote child social-emotional development.
  • Provide outreach presentations and trainings to outside community agencies as needed.
  • Ensure clinicians complete Mental Health Consultation documentation in a timely manner and by stated deadlines.
  • Maintain Mental Health Consultation forms and filing of Mental Health Consultation documentation.
  • Monitor clinicians Mental Health Consultation processes and compliance with CAPE Child Mental Health policies and procedures.
  • Enter Mental Health Consultation program data into ChildPlus system, distribute Mental Health Consultation data summaries, and review annual Mental Health Consultation data reports.
  • Work with Mental Health Program Director and Mental Health Program Consultant to ensure quality of clinical and mental health consultation services delivered, determine best ways of supporting MH staff, and developing short and long term goals for program sustainability and growth.

Mental Health Services

1. Intake and treatment services: assess appropriate referrals, conduct intake interviews, develop treatment plans and provide psychotherapy, collateral, and case management services.

2. Collaborate with preschools and childcare centers providing consultation and training as needed.

3. Establish and implement quality clinical treatment services.

4. Complete all required documentation in a timely manner and by stated deadlines.

5. Maintain and update client chart.

6. Provide billing reports and documentation for EPSDT Medi-Cal Services.

7. Attend clinical and quality chart review meetings as assigned.

8. Provide appropriate referrals to community resources.

9. Report all suspected child abuse according to laws and regulations.

10. Attend regularly scheduled training, supervision, and community meetings as assigned.

11. Be able to work in a non-traditional setting.

12. Be able to travel to varying locations.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in psychology, social work or related field
  • Licensed MFT, LCSW or Psychologist
  • 5+ years in the field of social services, preferred
  • 2+ years in the field of infant and early childhood mental health preferred
  • Familiar with principles of early childhood mental health assessment, treatment and diagnosis
  • Experience with young children 0-5 and their families
  • Ability to work with clients and staff of varied disciplines and educational levels; must demonstrate acceptance and respect for cultural diversity in all forms, including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religious backgrounds
  • Self-motivated; ability to work both independently and in cooperation with others
  • Strong case management skills, intake, and assessment skills
  • Strong and effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to exercise good clinical, legal, and ethical judgment and establish clear professional boundaries
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, be detail-oriented, make sound decisions, and multi-task
  • Flexibility; willing to see clients in clinical settings, in community settings, in clients home and occasionally to work evenings
  • Computer competence; knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • TB clearance and health screening
  • Fingerprint and child abuse index clearance

Mandatory Requirements:

1. Licensed MFT or LCSW with Board of Behavioral Sciences or Licensed Psychologist with Board of Psychology

2. Experience and training in principles and practice of Early Childhood Mental Health

3. Experience and training in providing Mental Health consultation in classroom settings

4. Experience and knowledge of clinical documentation, supervision, quality assurance, preferably for the requirement for Head Start and EPSDT funding

5. Experience and ability to hold leadership role with reflective practice principles
