Job Overview

Miriam Learning Center (MLC) provides special education support services for children who are unique learners within their school, at home and at the Center. Services include testing, counseling, OT, PT, SLP, music therapy, behavior supports, tutoring, and therapeutic summer camp.

STATUS: Full-Time, exempt (12 month administration position), Full benefits

HOURS: Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30

SALARY: Competitive

REPORTS TO: MLC DIRECTOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in social work or counseling.
  • Missouri state licensure (LPC, LCSW) (Must be fully licensed).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing counseling in a school setting.
  • Prefer a minimum of one year of experience as an administrator in the field of special education, mental health, or counseling, serving children.
  • Strong understanding and execution of CBT and behavior principles.
  • Knowledgeable in the field of learning disabilities.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer literate, including word-processing, spreadsheets and e-mail.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent high-level problem solving skills.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Counseling Coordinator ensures all daily aspects of counseling services are coordinated and meet quality standards. This position has multiple administrative responsibilities and this person provides limited direct mental health services to youth.

 


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives and coordinates all counseling referrals and assigns caseloads to clinicians.
  • Ensures all clinicians maintain the integrity services.
  • Provides monthly clinical supervision for all clinicians.
  • Maintains a reduced counseling caseload, providing direct mental health services to youth through school-based interventions.
  • Assists with summer camp through administration and direct services.
  • Coordinates all daily aspects of counseling program to ensure compliance with accreditation, contracts, and quality assurance.
  • Provides direct supervision to multiple staff.
  • Works with families and other Miriam departments to resolve issues.
  • Provides specialty initial training to counselors/social workers and when needed other staff during on boarding.
  • Coordinates emergency placements with other disciplines due to staff illness, quitting, etc.
  • Maintains the integrity of client files through review of notes and treatment goals.
  • Attends professional meetings as MLC’s representative.
  • Participates in marketing efforts through MLC conferences, breakfasts, open houses, fairs, end of year visits, and other marketing endeavors.
  • Maintains data and reports for grants and contracts and program evaluation.
  • Submits departmental payroll twice monthly and audits files for accuracy.
  • Other duties as defined by the supervisor.

Required education:

  • Master’s

Required experience:

  • supervisory: 1 year
  • clinical: 2 years

Required license or certification:

  • Missouri LPC or LCSW
