Job Overview
Provides group support services to clinical staff in the Mental Health Department at the facility for offenders including psycho-educational programming, recreational activities and other mental health related programming.
Enters relevant data into Correctional Information System (CORIS) and other databases to track group programming assignment and attendance as well as master pass lists.
Completes documentation in offender health records and ensures that documentation is completed by the end of the work day.
Participates in the Mental Health Department team meetings and implements programming that the team and supervisor determine.
Reports critical mental health needs immediately to the Psychology Associate II and other mental health staff, if needed and as soon as possible.
May be involved with special projects or programs.
Skill in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Publisher.
Considerable working knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and warning signs to be aware of for mental health deterioration.
Training and experience in provision of group programming, including psychoeducational and recreational activities.
Experience in assisting with goal and objectives setting, treatment and behavioral plans.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Prefer a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Psychology, Social Work or a related human services field; an equivalent combination of training and experience may substitute for education.
Prefer relevant professional experience and understanding of confidentiality of sensitive and protected offender information.
Prefer experience working with mental health patients in an outpatient, inpatient and/or correctional setting.
