POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the School Director and under the guidance and direction of the Director of Student Support, the Care Team – ABA performs tasks to aid in creating a learning environment that is accessible for learners with behavioral challenges. The classroom setting is full-inclusion, therefore the Care Team ABA will assist with all learners who may have emotional, educational, or behavioral problems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works individually or with small groups of learners under the direction of the general education facilitator and if applicable, the education specialist.
  • If an Individual Education Program (IEP) is present, adhere to the recommendations of the IEP by conducting the following if applicable:
  • Provide instructional assistance by helping to navigate instructions, workflow, and especially challenging assignments.
  • Guide and assist learners with moving from one classroom to another and moving around the campus grounds in general.
  • Assist in eating, using the bathroom, and using public transportation if applicable.
  • Monitor and record learner’s progress or behavior to provide proof of minute’s.
  • Assist with Related Services as needed.
  • Provide support when using assistive tools to help with access to the curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with general education facilitators and education specialists to prepare lesson plans that best fit the needs of the learner they are supporting.
  • Monitor and assist students in learning activities as a follow up to the presentation of instructional concepts by instructional personnel.
  • Help to keep the classroom environment clean and prepare demonstrations and visual aids for specific lessons, as needed.
  • Direct and supervise learners to provide for safe learning activities.
  • Assist in shaping appropriate social emotional behaviors by reinforcing the social emotional curriculum and instruction.
  • Monitor resource and learning centers and assist students with the use of center equipment and in the remediation of specific learning problems.
  • Assist with the administration of a variety of assessments.
  • Administer routine first aid and request appropriate assistance for serious injury or illness.
  • Maintain or assist in maintaining orderly, attractive and stimulating learning environments.
  • Participate, as requested, in parent conferences and/or IEP meetings.
  • Attend to the physical and health needs of children.
  • Attend and participate in professional development opportunities as appropriate to the position.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • *Provide ongoing support and actively collaborate with all iLEAD Exploration leaders and employees to ensure that the mission, vision, values and philosophy is clearly understood and carried out.
  • *Represent iLEAD Exploration in a positive and professional manner in all interactions and communications.
  • *Follow and actively participate in development of all iLEAD Exploration guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • *Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development activities provided by iLEAD Exploration and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • *Perform other responsibilities as defined by the iLEAD Exploration Leadership Team and the StudentSupport Leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • *Excellent communication and interpersonal skills exchanging information, both verbal and written. (InPerson/Telephone/Computer)
  • *Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
  • *Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
  • *Vehicle operation for transportation purposes between worksites.
  • *Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • *May encounter outdoor elements (>90)/(<60) temperatures, precipitation and/or wind.
  • *Ability to work in situations involving the need to make informed and quick decisions.
  • *Ability to train and delegate as needed in mentoring situations.
  • *Reading detailed documentation and analyzing data sets.
  • *Writing professionally both by hand and utilizing computer software.
  • *Speak in public settings, including virtual collaborations with more than one person.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others.
  • *Very high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • ABA experience with elementary aged students- Minimum 6 months
  • Bachelors Degree in Behavior Analysis, Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field
  • Experience implementing behavior plans and acting as a shadow aide in a general education class 30 hrs/week.
  • A foundational understanding of concepts relating to child growth and development, and developmentally appropriate characteristics.
  • Progressive knowledge of school-wide social emotional curriculum, strategies and techniques.
  • Proven ability with appropriate English usage, punctuation, spelling and grammar as well as basic arithmetic concepts.
  • Ability to handle routine record storage, retrieval and management.
  • Proficiency with the use of technology (email, Google suite, Microsoft office, etc.)
  • Demonstrated understanding, patience, and a receptive attitude towards learners of varied age groups, cultures and backgrounds.
  • Communicates effectively in oral and written form.
  • Willingness to perform routine clerical tasks and operates a variety of educational and office related machines and equipment.
  • Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative and considerate working relationships.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid a plus.
  • Prior experience with special needs students is a plus.
  • Applied Behavioral Analysis Experience a plus.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certificate a plus.
