Job Overview

Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia is looking for someone to provide short term case management, emergency, and ongoing support for pregnant or parenting women/men/guardians with the goal to support economic mobility and opportunities. Services will be based in motivational interviewing, goal setting and education of community resources. Additional services will include the distribution of a layettes, diapers and other infant-toddler care items, referral to appropriate resources and crisis pregnancy support if warranted. This position is also responsible for maintaining Grandparents As Parents support group.

Qualifications for the Parent and Pregnancy Support Worker are a bachelor’s degree in social work, education, early childhood education or a related field, a valid driver’s license, and experience in outreach work or trauma informed care. Must be knowledgeable of child development, parenting challenges and mental health needs. An ideal candidate will be a self-starter, well organized, computer literate and have knowledge of motivational interviewing. Should have experience working with families with diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Being able to speak Spanish is preferred, but not required. Should be adept in strength based communication, assessments and services; and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Working hours must be flexible to accommodate work in the evening and weekends.

In this position you will maintain client files and data collection, and provide on-going contact with clients. Be familiar with company support agencies and organizations and adept in locating services as needed. Promote program to local faith communities and other organizations. Assist in the identification and recruitment of clients as well as participate fully as a team member with Mobility Services and Adoption unit. You are responsible for maintaining Care Center Supplies for both locations. Maintain knowledge of current parenting practices and challenges and other duties assigned by supervisor. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $34,700.00 per year
